For a couple of months here in New Orleans there was a house turned into a musical instrument. Built by Swoon, Mr. Quintron, and many others it housed 6 performances which were consistently the hottest ticket in town. Luckily I caught the last show on the last night which featured Michael Zerang, Miss Pussycat, Andrew W.K., Rob Cambre, and more more more (still trying to find a master list.*) I've included a video I shot, but below that is a better quality from a night I wasn't there, then some photos and a soundcloud recording. Oh, and an extra treat. Rob Cambre set up a bunch of shows featuring some of the players in the Music Box, I got to catch a few of them. This is a brief moment of New Orleans locals Donald Miller, Bhob Rainey, and Bill Hunsinger with Michael Zerang. It was already ridiculously blown out and extreme before it hit my phone:
Ok, that's about it. I have to get back to my Totally Zen Frogs. Check back on Monday because I am finishing up an interview with Brian Butler (Kenneth Anger's bandmate in Technicolor Skull).
* Edit. I gripped this from Benny Divine's BookFace page:
Drummer in the second video is Jim White (Dirty Three, Cat Power, Nick Cave, White Magic, Marianne Faithfull). One of my favorite drummers! That night was magical!
