No stranger to WFMU as The Custodian Of Records has graced the airwaves for many years on Coffee Break For Heroes & Villians, co-hosted the podcast “Coffee 2 Go” of all unsigned rap demos and has had a page on the station’s Free Music Archive (FMA).
He’s been producing music for about 15 years and shows no signs of bending his sound for anyone or any trend for that matter. The stripped down production that The Custodian is known for can be heard on this year’s posse banger, “Thursday Night Live” by The 7 Immortals. A Trenton, NJ based group of veteran MC's that come from the late great Tony D's orbit.
For his fourth full length release; The Remixes, the Jersey virtuso headed back to a time when a “remix” was an actual re-working of a song, and found inspiration in his personal record heap.
“I basically took some of my 12’s from the basement that had accapellas, matched the original beats tempo and made an entirely different track showing the song in a new light. I made it a point to use all vinyl singles from my collection. I don't have every dope 12'' released but I had enough to work with and each piece holds great sentimental value to me. These records also came out during my favorite era in hip hop”. If you’re a fan of hip-hop music that’s well thought-out, do your ears a favor and follow The Custodian Of Records.
